Brett Favre believes Mike McCarthy would be perfect fit as Bears head coach

The Chicago Bears are in the thick of their search for a new head coach, and there's an intriguing candidate that's emerged: Mike McCarthy, who's parting ways with the Dallas Cowboys after his contract expires. The Bears and New Orleans Saints are expected to show interest.

While their previous request to speak to McCarthy was declined by Dallas last week, the two sides could not come to terms on a deal, freeing the former Green Bay Packers and Cowboys coach to pursue a new opportunity.

Days before news of McCarthy and Dallas not coming to terms was announced, former Packers quarterback Brett Favre, an archrival of the Bears, was asked about his former coach potentially joining the Bears franchise and had quite the endorsement. Favre believes that McCarthy would be the perfect fit for Chicago given his opportunity to work with quarterback Caleb Williams.

"From the outside looking in, yes I do think it's a good fit," Favre said, via TMZ. "Mike has done a great job developing young quarterbacks, so if you're looking at it from that perspective, he's a perfect fit."

In his coaching tenure, McCarthy has had the opportunity to coach quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers, Dak Prescott, and Favre towards the end of his Green Bay tenure. It would undoubtedly add more juice to the rivalry between the Packers and Bears, especially after Chicago closed the season with a win at Lambeau Field for the first time since 2015, when McCarthy was the coach.
