Brest to attack 3 Barcelona ‘weaknesses’ in UCL clash
An insight into the plans of the coaching staff at Ligue 1 outfit Stade Brestois to break down upcoming hosts Barcelona has on Tuesday been provided.
Brest and Barca are of course primed to lock horns later today.
In the respective clubs’ fifth fixture of the Champions League campaign, they will face off in Catalunya’s capital ay 9pm local time.
Despite Brest’s hugely impressive form on the continent this season, it is Hansi Flick’s Barca who will head into the matchup boasting understandable favourite status.
The evening’s visitors will likely need to conjure up a near-perfect display, if they hope to emerge with anything to show for their efforts in Spain.
And, as alluded to above, on Tuesday afternoon, an insight into such plans on the part of the Ligue 1 club has been forthcoming online.
As per a report from Diario Sport, citing L’Équipe, Brest’s intention is to put into action a three-point gameplan, in an attempt to exploit the weaknesses of their hosts.
The plan in question would consist of the following:
Using decoy runs in attack to break Barca’s offside trap through a 2nd wave of runners from deep
Sending long balls to towering attacking pair Ludovic Ajorque (1.97 m) and Abdallah Sima (1.88 m)
Targeting Barcelona’s full-backs, with Alejandro Balde not fit to start, and Jules Koundé looking less assured without Lamine Yamal in front of him
