Brentford’s latest fan advisory board meeting takes place
Brentford held its second fan advisory board (FAB) meeting of 2024 in August.
FAB meetings are a part of the club’s ongoing commitment to fan engagement and consultation and are a key element of the Premier League’s fan engagement standard.
The meeting was attended by club executives together with FAB members drawn from Bees United and BIAS. Those representatives who sit on the FAB are: Adam Hobbs (co-chair), Ronald Mansveld, Angelo Basu, Allyson Woyak (all BIAS) and Stuart Hatcher (co-chair), Sharon Wright, Chris Tate and Don Tanswell (all Bees United).
The FAB focuses on off-pitch matters and provides a sounding board for the club to discuss strategic issues with fan representatives.
A number of working groups focusing on specific topics and projects such as ticketing, food and drink and sustainability also report into the FAB, providing more detailed feedback to help steer the club’s decisions and policies.
Part of the recent FAB meeting included a presentation and discussion on the club’s preliminary financial results for 2023/24 season (prior to their audit).
Brentford chief executive Jon Varney reviewed the 2023/24 season and highlighted key successes such as the integration of a new ticketing provider Ticketmaster and the club’s Every Seat Counts policy.
He also drew attention to areas for improvement including the club’s finishing position in the league and ticket allocation issues.
The group provided feedback on how the FAB is working as outlined in the 2023/24 fan engagement report, commenting on whether any changes are required to the structure of the group and meetings.
Additionally, the FAB discussed matchday operational issues including search procedures for visiting fans and how we can continue to keep Gtech Community Stadium safe for all fans.
