Ahead of Anderlecht’s clash with Sint-Truiden, a report in Het Nieuwsblad had stated that Anderlecht were considering a move for Danish international Christian Eriksen. With just one year left on his deal at Manchester United, there appears to be members of the Anderlecht staff that believe Eriksen would be open to a move to Brussels. Following the game against Sint-Truiden, Anderlecht head coach Brian Riemer was asked about the links between the two clubs. Interestingly, Riemer did not dismiss the reports out of hand, but did confirm that Eriksen was not in Brussels at the moment.

Riemer, who worked with Eriksen during his time at Brentford, said ‘We worked together at Brentford three years ago and I still exchange messages with Christian regularly‘. Last season Anderlecht made a similar move at the end of the window when they brought in Thorgan Hazard to the club. They also added players like Thomas Delaney, who brought in experience from the highest levels of European football. Another link between Eriksen and Anderlecht is through his friendship with Jan Vertonghen, with both having played together at Tottenham and Ajax.
