Brendan Lemieux On Waivers For Purpose Of Contract Termination
The Carolina Hurricanes have placed forward Brendan Lemieux on unconditional waivers for the purpose of mutual contract termination.
“Brendan asked to be released from his contract so he could pursue a new opportunity," Carolina general manager Eric Tulsky shared to Hurricanes.com. "We wish him nothing but the best in the next stage of his career.”

Lemieux, 28, signed a one-year, $775,000 contract extension last year with the team, but didn't make the NHL roster out of camp.
Instead, he was placed on waivers, which he cleared, and was assigned to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.
The physical winger appeared in just 12 games with the Wolves where he had just two goals, no assists and 30 penalty minutes.
Lemieux also hadn't played in the Wolves last four games, last playing on Nov. 21.
The forward appeared in just 32 games with the Hurricanes last season where he had three goals and five points.
This move won't impact the Hurricanes very much because Lemieux's entire salary was fully buried in the minors, but it does at least open up a contract slot giving Carolina four open slots.
