Breece Hall injury update: Will Jets RB play Week 15 while battling knee injury?
Breece Hall has spent most of the 2024 NFL season as the New York Jets' top running back. He may not operate in that role as the campaign closes.
Hall missed the Jets' Week 14 loss to the Miami Dolphins with a knee injury. New York doesn't yet have plans to shut down its 23-year-old star, but it isn't clear exactly when – or if – he might be able to return to the field.
Here's the latest on Hall's knee injury as the Jets prepare for their Week 15 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Hall did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday but was a full-go on Friday. He's still listed as questionable for the Jets' game against the Jaguars but his practice status is encouraging.
"He's struggling a bit, so we'll see how he goes this week," Ulbrich told reporters on Wednesday.
Ulbrich was later asked whether the Jets were considering shutting Hall down for the rest of the season. He said that wasn't yet in the team's plans; they are still evaluating Hall's injury and have not made a decision about his status for the season's final month.

Hall's status for Week 15 remains murky but Ulbrich's comments make it seem more likely that the third-year back would sit at least one more week before returning to the field.
The Jets have little incentive to rush Hall back to action. They have a 3-10 record and have been eliminated from playoff contention. Losing could actually help them draw nearer to the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL draft, so there is incentive to sit Hall for the rest of the season.
But as Ulbrich indicated, the Jets aren't going down that road yet. They want to continue to evaluate Hall before making a decision.

Jets RB depth chart
If Hall can't play in Week 15, the Jets would rely on a couple of rookies to carry the load at running back. Below is a look at the four backs the team presently has on its 53-man roster:
Breece Hall
Allen was a fourth-round pick out of Wisconsin and has great size at 6-1, 235 pounds. He briefly flashed his potential as a "thunder"-type complement to Hall's "lightning" in the first five weeks of the season, but Hall still took a lion's share of the team's touches at running back. As a result, Allen has just 78 carries on the year. He has turned those into 283 yards (3.6 yards per carry).
Davis was selected in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL draft. The South Dakota State product played sparingly early in the season but has scored a touchdown in back-to-back games. He racked up 40 yards and a score on 10 carries against the Dolphins, so he and Allen figure to keep splitting touches if Hall can't play.
As for Nwangwu, he is a veteran return man and is dealing with a hand injury. He is unlikely to have much of an impact at running back unless it's as a change-of-pace guy.
