Breaking down Alex Mack's $42 million contract
When the Cleveland Browns matched the Jacksonville Jaguars' five-year, $42 million offer sheet last Friday, it included $26 million in guaranteed money.
Mack also has the right to void the final three years of the deal after making $18 million in the first two years of the contract, which includes a no-trade clause. Of the $26 million guaranteed, $8 million voids if Mack voids the contract after two years.
Mack has a $10 million fully guaranteed base salary in 2014, and a fully guaranteed $8 million in 2015.
In 2016, the $8 million base salary is guaranteed if he's on the roster on April 5, 2015
In 2017, Mack is due a nonguaranteed $6 million base salary and a $2 million roster bonus on the fifth day of the league year.
In 2018, he's due a $6 million nonguaranteed base salary and a $2 million roster bonus on the fifth day of the league year.
