Brantford Bulldogs Acquire Four Draft Picks For Veteran Defenseman; Sudbury Busy On OHL Trade Deadline Day
Before the bell rang on the OHL's trade deadline, the Sudbury Wolves made one of the biggest trades of the year with the Ottawa 67's, acquiring Calgary Flames defense prospect Henry Mews in exchange for eight draft picks and 2007-born defenseman Nolan Jackson.

However, before that trade was official, they completed a deal with the Brantford Bulldogs, trading for left-shot defenseman Noah Roberts.
Below are the full details of that trade:
Sudbury Wolves Receive:
LHD, Noah Roberts ('05)
2024-25 season statistics: 37GP, 4G, 8A, 12PTS, 86PIM
Brantford Bulldogs Receive:
2027 2nd round pick (KIT)
2028 2nd round pick
2026 3rd round pick
*Conditional 2028 3rd round pick
As one would expect when noticing that the Uxbridge, Ontario native has 86 penalty minutes this season, his strengths lie within his physical play and aggressiveness.
Having him and Captain Donovan McCoy on separate defensive pairings means that opposing teams' top two lines will have to face a player who will physically challenge them and limit their time and space to make plays.
Roberts made his Wolves debut alongside fellow newcomer Henry Mews on Friday night when the team hosted the Niagara IceDogs.

As per Sudbury's press release, GM Rob Papineau had this say about Noah Roberts:
“Noah is a veteran defenseman who has strong skating ability and heavy checking strength. He keeps the game in front of him and is a physical defender who opposing players don’t enjoy playing against. He makes a strong first pass, brings leadership, and outstanding hockey pedigree."

Papineau also made a couple of other moves on Friday.
Sudbury made a goalie swap with the Sarnia Sting, acquiring 2006-born Sudbury native netminder Karsen Chartier in exchange for Andrew Gaulton ('06).
Here's a fun tidbit: Chartier played his OHL draft year with fellow Sudbury Wolves Kieron Walton and goaltender Finn Marshall on the North York Rangers U16 AAA team in the GTHL.

The other move Papineau made was signing 2005-born right-winger Jack Ziliotto to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

Ziliotto plays in the BCHL for the Trail Smoke Eaters where he is one of the top offensive producers on his team with 11 goals and 27 points in 33 games. He has an NCAA commitment to play for RPI (Rensselaer Polytech Institute) starting next season.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound forward was drafted 201st overall in the 11th round of the 2021 OHL Priority Selection by the Oshawa Generals.
“Jack is a guy our scouts and coaches felt from watching will help our hockey club this season. He adds size and skill as a big right-shot forward," said Papineau.
Despite losing a ton of star power over the summer, the Wolves are having a terrific season. Papineau rewarded his players for the year they've had by acquiring support for their playoff aspirations.
