Brandon Moreno delighted with UFC Fight Night 246 performance: 'All the pieces were in the right place'
EDMONTON, Alberta, Canada – Brandon Moreno is more than satisfied with how things went down in his return to MMA competition.
Moreno, who took a break from MMA earlier this year citing fatigue, made his comeback this Saturday in the main event of UFC Fight Night 246, where he defeated top contender Amir Albazi. Moreno (22-8-2 MMA, 10-5-2 UFC) put on a boxing clinic, and dominated Albazi (17-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) to win a unanimous decision.
For Moreno, things couldn't have gone any better.
"What can I say? I feel just amazing," Moreno said at the UFC Fight Night 246 post-fight press conference. "All the vibes, all the environment around my training camp was on point. It was just perfect. I wanted to show that in my performance tonight, and I feel I did it.
"I felt so connected, and I felt all the pieces were in the right place. It was a dominant performance, and this is the kind of performance I know I'm able to do in my next fights."
The victory over Albazi snapped a two-fight losing streak for Moreno. Now on the win column, the Mexican star wants to recover what he lost in 2023 – the UFC flyweight title. He knows the division is a bit complicated at the moment, which is why he's fine taking another fight if a title shot doesn't come his way next.
"I don't know, man, hopefully (I get the title shot)," Moreno said. "I have to be honest with myself, maybe I have to fight one more time before the title, but I don't know what the UFC is thinking right now. Maybe they get so impressed with the performance tonight that they say, 'Maybe he can get the title next.' I know Royval is there. I know Kai Kara France is there trying to get their opportunity for the title next. I don't know. I'll be ready for whatever."
