Brampton Sweeps Season Series Against Kitchener Due To Luke Misa Hat Trick.
Calgary Flames' prospect Luke Misa recorded the fourth hat trick of his OHL career in a 4-1 win over the Kitchener Rangers. By the night's end, Misa had four points and took part in all four goals scored by Brampton.
He scored his first goal of the game on a rush play where he snuck to the middle and chipped Jack Van Volsen's pass into the back of the net. The goal was the only marker scored in the contest until midway through the second period when Kitchener's Adrian Misaljevic tied the game at one.
Until the third period this game was a goaltending duel with Jack Ivankovic and Jackson Parsons going save for save. In the end, Ivankovic finished the night with 33 saves on 24 shots while Parsons recorded 22 saves on 25 shots.
This was another big game for Ivankovic, who came in fifth among North American goaltenders in the recent rankings released by NHL Central Scouting.
Part way through the third period, is a fed Parker Von Richter who scored the eventual game-winning goal. Minutes later Misa striped Trent Swick of the puck and went to the net where he potted the rebound generated by Mason Zebeski's shot.
The Calgary Flames' fifth-round pick sealed his hat trick with an empty-net goal scored with 17 seconds remaining in the game.
Misa's breakout 2023-24 campaign finished with him scoring 26 goals and 55 assists for 81 points in 66 games. His first hat trick of the year continues a torrid 2024-25 season where he is on pace to score 40 goals and 55 assists for a total of 95 points.
The win means that Brampton sweeps the season series against Kitchener 2-0. The two teams will not play again unless they meet in the finals of the OHL playoffs.
The Steelheads sit seventh in the Eastern Conference despite having one of the most talented rosters in the league. These kinds of wins are critical if they want to make a bid to win home-ice advantage in the playoffs.
