Manchester United are leading the race to sign one of Bayern Munich’s prized assets.

The Red Devils have had a quiet winter transfer window, but there could be plenty of activity before the transfer deadline next week.

In an update yesterday, it was revealed that Mathys Tel has decided to leave Bayern. United have since been linked with a move.

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are also interested in the talented 19-year-old, but reputed journalist Paul O Keefe has a different view.

The Spurs insider has revealed that the Rennes graduate is keen on a move to Old Trafford.

He replied on X: “The boy wants Man Utd. Let’s see how Bayern play that.”

Tel would be a statement signing for United

The Red Devils have lacked the cutting edge in the final third this campaign. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have squandered plenty of clear-cut scoring opportunities.

Manager Ruben Amorim may want a new solution up front before the transfer deadline. Tel would be an ideal fit if he has the assurance of regular first-team football.

The youngster has just one assist from 390 minutes this campaign under manager Vincent Kompany. He has primarily come off the bench for the Bavarian heavyweights.

Tel has played second fiddle to Harry Kane, Kingsley Coman and Leroy Sane. Hence, it is unsurprising that he has decided to pursue a fresh challenge away from Munich.

The wonderkid, who made 16 goal contributions last term, possesses plenty of pace and can dribble past his opponents. He can play anywhere in the frontline.

Tel has excelled with his goalscoring ability when he has had a run of starts. The forward has been described as a ‘superb finisher‘ by Bayern legend Thomas Muller.

He would be a statement signing for the Red Devils. The club are likely to propose a loan deal for the versatile attacker with an option to purchase in the summer.
