Bowl game schedule today: Breaking down the Bahamas matchups on Jan. 4
The final curtain falls on the non-playoff portion of the college football bowl slate with one final contest on Saturday. In-person attendees will need a passport, and first-time visitors might be surprised by the road configuration for drivers on the opposite side of vehicles, but those who made the trip will undoubtedly enjoy themselves. The rest of us, alas, will have to settle for the multiple televised views of tropical scenery.
What’s that? Oh, right, the game. It’s a group-of-five matchup that might fly under your radar, but as postseason rewards go this one is quite nice. Here’s the rundown of the teams and key players.
Bahamas Bowl - Buffalo vs. Liberty
Time/TV/location: Saturday, 11 a.m. ET, ESPN2, Nassau.
Why watch: The Caribbean is a more than desirable destination if you’re coming from Buffalo in January. The Flames should be happy to be here as well, though it might be something of a letdown after last year’s season concluded in the Fiesta Bowl. The Bulls should be near full strength coming in, with QB C.J. Ogbonna and RB Al-Jay Henderson set to lead the offense. Liberty said goodbye to outbound transfer QB Kaidon Salter, so Ryan Burger will get the start in Nassau.
Why it could disappoint: It’s an unfortunate reality of the bowl season that player movement has become part of the equation. Even before the transfers the Flames’ season hadn’t lived up to expectations, however, so this could be a big day for the Bulls.
