Bournemouth striker Evanilson is set for a spell on the sidelines after having surgery on his broken foot.

The Brazil forward was substituted in the closing stages of Saturday's 1-0 win against Everton.

Further assessment confirmed he had fractured a metatarsal and that it required an operation.

The Cherries say the surgery was successful but have not put a timescale on the 25-year-old's recovery.

"The club's medical staff will now provide Evanilson with their full support through the rehabilitation process, ensuring he has the best possible recovery," read a statement.

Evanilson has scored five goals in 19 appearances since joining Bournemouth for a club record £40m deal from Porto in August.

Saturday's win against the Toffees saw Bournemouth set a new club record of eight Premier League games unbeaten.

Andoni Iraola's side are seventh in the table, three points outside the top four.

Bournemouth have signed defender Julio Soler from Argentine club Lanus on a four-year contract.

The initial fee for the 19-year-old is about £6.6m but could rise to £11.5m if all add-on clauses are met.

The teenager featured 58 times for Lanus, making his debut in 2022.

Bournemouth technical director Simon Francis added: "Julio is another talented young player who arrives highly sought after and we are pleased to have added him to our squad.

"With the way Andoni and his staff improve exciting prospects, we look forward to seeing Julio's progress with us."

Soler was born in Paraguay but has represented Argentina at youth level and started every game at last summer's Paris Olympics.

He is Bournemouth's second signing of the January window after United States youth international centre-back Matai Akinmboni joined from DC United.
