Boston Bruins Recall Matt Poitras And Michael Callahan From Providence Bruins
The Boston Bruins announced they have recalled forward Matt Poitras and defenseman Michael Callahan from their AHL affiliate Providence Bruins.
The Bruins also placed Mark Kastelic and Charlie McAvoy on injured reserve and moved Hampus Lindholm to long-term injured reserve.
Poitras was sent to the AHL on Nov. 11 and immediately produced, posting eight goals and 20 points in 23 games with Providence, including a seven game goal scoring streak in December.
The 20-year-old had four points in 14 games with Boston before being sent down, he has 19 points in 47 career NHL games.
A second round pick in 2022, Poitras would benefit from playing higher in the Bruins lineup and on the powerplay. AHL line mate Vinni Lettieri was recalled yesterday and the pair would provide some built-in chemistry in the NHL.

Callahan was selected in the fifth round of the 2018 draft by the Bruins, captained Providence College in the NCAA for three years, and is now in his fourth season with the Providence Bruins.
The 25-year-old has taken on a bigger role on the blueline this season and has six points in 35 games.
With their defense core looking thin due to injuries Boston's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight marks Callahan's first chance to make his NHL debut.
