Oesterle, 32, has played in nine games this season with Providence, where he has three goals and eight points.

Oesterle played in 22 games with the Calgary Flames this past season, posting two assists and four penalty minutes.

Oesterle's call-up comes after Bruins star defender Hampus Lindholm left the club's most recent matchup against the St. Louis Blues injured. If Lindholm is unable to play against the Dallas Stars on Thursday (Nov. 14), Oesterle will make his Bruins debut.
