Borussia Dortmund eye Bayern Munich talent Paul Wanner
With Borussia Dortmund preparing their transfer targets for 2025, the Westfalen outfit have identified Bayern Munich talent Paul Wanner for a potential transfer, according to BILD. The 18-year-old, currently on loan at Heidenheim, is valued at €15m by Transfermarkt, and is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in German football.
Die Schwarzgelben have been scouting Wanner for years and were close to signing the German-Austrian in 2021 until Bayern Munich blocked a transfer at the eleventh hour.
And now Wanner has come to the attention of Dortmund once again. Per BILD, the attacking-midfielder has been mentioned as BVB’s recruitment team plan their transfer targets ahead of the 2025/26 season. Both Lars Ricken and Sebastian Kehl believe that Wanner has what it takes to play at Champions League level already.
Borussia Dortmund’s plans for Paul Wanner
Wanner’s Bayern Munich contract runs until 2027 and the Rekordmeister aren’t planning to sell their talent, but although Dortmund wish to sign the playmaker on a permanent basis, a loan deal has been discussed although club bosses are yet to make any concrete approach although Wanner knows of Borussia’s interest.
But Dortmund will face competition to sign Wanner. Should Florian Wirtz leave Bayer Leverkusen or Xavi Simons departs RB Leipzig, then the Bundesliga duo, as well as Eintracht Frankfurt and Stuttgart, will target the German youth international.
