Boise State football adds two opponents to its 2026 schedule. Here’s where future foes stand

The Boise State football program announced Tuesday that two games have been added to its 2026 schedule, and also made schedule changes for games in 2029 and 2030.

The Broncos have agreed to a single-game deal with South Dakota at Albertsons Stadium on Sept. 19, 2026, and the first of a home-and-home series at Western Michigan on Sept. 26, 2026.

Along with the additions, Boise State’s 2029 road game at Washington has been moved to Sept. 15, and the 2030 home game against Houston has been moved to Sept. 14. The return trip to Houston will be in 2031.

The additions of South Dakota and Western Michigan round out Boise State’s 2026 nonconference schedule. The Broncos open the 2026 season at Oregon on Sept. 5 and host Memphis on Sept. 12, and then have their games against South Dakota and Western Michigan.

The Broncos played South Dakota once before, in the 1973 NCAA Division II quarterfinals, which Boise State won 53-10. The game against Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, Michigan, will mark the first time the two schools will face off. The return game at Albertsons Stadium is scheduled for Sept. 22, 2029.

South Dakota is a Football Championship Subdivision program. Western Michigan competes in the Mid-American Conference.

Boise State’s home-and-home series with Houston was initially scheduled for the 2024 and ‘25 seasons, but Houston’s move to the Big 12 Conference delayed the series.
