Boeser, Miller & Heinen Continue To Develop Chemistry At Vancouver Canucks Training Camp

One trio that the Vancouver Canucks are taking a look at Training Camp is Brock Boeser, J.T. Miller and Danton Heinen. While Miller and Boeser have plenty of experience playing together, Heinen would be the new addition to the line after signing with the Canucks on July 1. While it is still the early stages of Training Camp, the trio has looked good together as they start to build chemistry.

When asked about his potential new linemate, Boeser was very complimentary. He said, "I think Dan's a really smart player. I played against him since college. I think his hockey IQ is there. He works hard, and I think he'll fit in well."

Signed to a two-year contract, Heinen is coming off one of his most productive seasons in the NHL. The Langley-born forward scored 17 goals and recorded 36 points in 74 games with the Boston Bruins. Heinen also saw time on the penalty kill, with his 91 minutes of shorthanded play ranking fifth among forwards on the Bruins.

Heinen showing that he can be successful alongside Miller and Boeser is important as it gives head coach Rick Tocchet more options throughout the season. In 2023-24, Miller and Boeser had a few linemates, with arguably the most successful one being Pius Suter, as that trio outscored opponents 16-4. If Heinen can lock down that spot, it will not only create some consistency in the top six but also allow Vancouver to spread out their offence a bit more while become a deeper team down the middle.
