Boban identifies Milan problem: ‘Four attackers is too many’
Former Milan midfielder and current Sky Sport Italia pundit Zvonimir Boban has explained what he believes is ‘wrong’ with Milan and their set-up after their narrow 3-2 victory away against Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League, suggesting that Paulo Fonseca’s side currently lack ‘balance’.
The Rossoneri rose to a 3-2 victory against Slovan Bratislava, but were shaky defensively despite their attacking productivity.
Christian Pulisic opened the scoring, but Milan conceded three minutes later. It took Rafael Leao to come off the bench for the Rossoneri to go back in front, and then a Slovan error gifted a goal to Tammy Abraham. Nino Marcelli pulled one back for the hosts two minutes shy of the 90th.
Boban on Milan issues: ‘Four attackers is too many’
Analysing his old club’s performance after full-time, Boban said that Fonseca’s and his team were deserving of their victory, but suggested that the team is slightly lop-sided in its line-up.
“Milan won deservingly, they dominated at times as well, but they need to have more balance, they suffer too much.
Four attackers is too much and the midfield is suffering,” he said on Sky Sport Italia.
The Rossoneri lined up with a double pivot of Youssouf Fofana and Tijjani Reijnders in midfield, who played behind an attacking unit consisting of Samuel Chukwueze, Christin Pulisic, Noah Okafor and Abraham.
