Blue Jays' Bo Bichette swats first major-league home run

Bo Bichette is having one heck of a debut major-league series.

After needing just two pitches to pick up his first hit, he followed that up with a multi-hit game in his second major league appearance. In career game number three on Wednesday he crossed another milestone, clubbing his first big league home run off of Kansas City Royals starter Jakob Junis.

Kansas City is colloquially known as a fairly tough place to hit home runs, but not when they are smoked as hard as that one was.

If you’re the statcast type, that ball had an exit velocity of 107.7 mph and traveled 436 feet. In layman’s terms, an absolute bomb.

And because the son of a major leaguer always has to have his firsts compared to the old man, it is worth noting that Dante Bichette didn’t hit his first home run until his 25th career game.

Bichette’s MLB career is off the a hot start. The young Blue Jay followed up his first multi-hit performance in just his second pro game with three more hits — one going yard — the next day against the Royals.

With six hits in his first three games, Bichette now joins an impressive group of current and former Blue Jays in the record books.
