focused his relationship -- focused his presidency on the relationship of that community. That goes back many years. This is just another part of that. Joe: all the while, donald trump packs $40 million in an afternoon. Oil executives pumping $40 million into this one-day hall, which makes it one of the most lucrative days for the trump campaign and I guess one of the most lucrative days in presidential campaign history, but this took place in the post oak hotel, 700,000 square feet, owned by -- has as a rolls-royce dealership and his top five helicopter pad. Is that how we relate with people? >> It's how you raise money, right? I think, too, everything you hear over the former president's mouth, they are the kinds of policies and leadership that that industry is actually looking for. They are looking for addict ability and some sense of where things will be going under the trump administration, and I certainly think the oil industry probably feels pretty good about donald trump being in the white house as opposed to joe biden. Joe: there was a post from the white house saying he would do anything for the oil industry for a billion dollars. This is not quite billion dollars. >> Donald trump went to the oil industry and said, look, give me $1 billion and I will roll back clean air, clean water regulations people care about across the country. People do not want an incredible amount of pollution, but they also do not want their candidates going to wealthy business interests and saying, give me money and I will give you what you want. What we should actually be doing, and I know this is politics 101, is delivering for them in a class and working-class americans. Joe: it's funny the way this has turned into a mainstream talking point. Remember, he said, I will be dictator for a day just so I can say drill, baby, drill. That resonates with someone. Who is the voter this appeals to let says this means lower gas prices? >> It's the middle class. People expect politicians to go to fancy hotels and raise money. I don't know that they want it, but that's what they think of politicians. I think that is the perception they have, so I don't pick necessarily it will take away or give really into anything but donald trump's coffers. Joe called alternative is radio city with barack obama and queen latifah and lizzo. That was one we already saw, and apparently the bided -- biden campaign will try this again. That is joe biden's version of this, mixing with celebrities and being the hollywood guy. >> The important thing is he is not going out there offering businesspeople the policies they want in exchange for money. He is out there working with people who support him who are popular with large audiences and who can bring votes. Joe: that's not a turnoff. Maybe it's a draw. You tell me. I remember the old celebrity at mccain made, and they put barack obama and paris hilton in the same ad. It did not seem to hurt. >> If I remember correctly, barack obama became president. Joe: there you have it from our panel. They will stay with us. There was another controversial flag you might have heard, spotted on property of a supreme court justice, samuel alito. Love It or Your Money Back. >> In the case of samuel alito, he definitively needs to recuse himself from any matter pending before the united states supreme court that has to do with the january 6 violent insurrection. He should have no part of it. Joe: house minority leader hakeem jeffries earlier today responding to reports of controversial flax, and there's another on the property of supreme court justice samuel alito. First time was at the home in alexandria virginia. Now it is at the beach house. Back with us, our political panel. I'm supposed to ask both of you guys about congressional investigations, censure potentially coming out of the house. This is a separate branch of government, and nothing is going to happen when it comes to this, just like clarence thomas, right? >> What the supreme court needs to do is put in a real ethics policy, for example, but he should recuse himself. Alito is showing political bias. The january 6 case and the trump immunity case is an important part of this. The former president is asking to law, and someone showing that kind of biased should be more specific. Joe: we have the american flag upside down, some other flag at the beach house that also represents stop the steal. This is different than clarence thomas taking lavish vacations, expensive gifts, super yacht trips and private jets. Should the sprinkler justice be able to fly whatever flag he wants? >> This comes down to another knock on the reputation and the way people fear about the courts. More than anything else, it's taking away from what the -- what people want the supreme court to be. They wanted to be unbiased and not political, and this has changed all of that, so, yes, I do. I think there should not be political statements coming from the supreme court and their families, but I guess we are living in a new place with all of this. Joe: I guess that is right or maybe we are just learning that you blame the wife. That has been the consistent story. Here's the scenario that will keep you both up tonight, the potential tie in the presidential race, born out in the latest marquette law pole today. -- poll today. >> That is my nightmare. You are right, I will be staying up tonight thinking about that. My organization is focused on michigan, wisconsin, and pennsylvania. The states that will really flip this. That is where we are putting up ads every single day, and I think we will make the case about trump and hopefully keep aside that scenario. Joe: I don't know how likely it is, but I think it is something we need to prepare for. >> It seems to me like a constitutional crisis. We have been talking about this for the last six to eight years, but the truth is we have thought about this for some time, and it feels as if we make andy up there. Joe: our bloomberg news pull out this week showed half of swing state voters, including the three you mentioned, fear violence around the election. The closer this is, the more likely that gets. >> I say probably so, but 2020 was not particularly close, and there was violence then, too. Donald trump's incitement of this is really going to be the defining factor, and we have seen the decision he makes on that front. Joe: what is your biggest worry, violence around the elections or if it is undecided? >> Violence alone deters people from going to the polls and if what pat is saying is true, we need all voters to turn out. That, I think, is the one thing that is a disadvantage to people, disenfranchising them and having them be worried about going to the polls at all. Joe: this has been uplifting today, hasn't it? Come back and talk to us. Great panel, an important conversation we need to have. We thank you both.
