has run. As far as it what's, what's a good piece of advice to consider as an investor, if you if you want to go where the trend is going, but you also don't want to get caught up in in buying an investment when it's had such a run and maybe seems like it's putting your, your, your potential returns at risk. >> Things are in their unique ways to play the artificial intelligence bill dowd and other industries that will be impacted. There are actively managed etfs that covered data centre bills build that play reshoring infrastructure build in the united states. And those that play specifically on artificial intelligence to there's ways don't diversified basket, even if you don't have that much to invest, if you will in play that the more broadly rather picking one star that may or may not end up 5 or 10 years from now being the leader so the analogy would be back in the late 90's when we had the initial flasch, if you will, an initial build-out of the internet itself and eventually every single company out there, every had to have an internet strategy, whether or not you are dot com stock, same thing here. Since artificial intelligence. Well touched so many industries, it's important to think through where those industries, they're going to lean into that that trend or lean into that new technology and really benefit from where they're going to be able to deploy artificial intelligence to alongside some of the manual tasks that consumer or employees have done. And so there's a whole variety of ways to plan. But there are also some focused ets to a lot of people to participate with that a bit more broadly than a single stop. >> Meanwhile, as much attention we're seeing focused on ai and the tech sector. I'm looking even at the canadian market to stand at sectors this year have been materials. They've been under a little pressure last couple of days, gold and copper trailing off a little bit and industrials and both of those are sectors that you like as an investor right now, how come? >> Well, a big piece of relays to artificial intelligence really is a component of a much bigger trend, which is reshoring bringing manufacturing back to the united states are back to north america reshoring friendshoring bringing things back here. And so then industrial revolution, if you well, is probably the biggest investment that we've made in the united states, in particular, since we are here to the interstates. Back in that in the 1950's and early 60's. And that change the conversation composition of our economy and fast plays then into use step back and start sorting through. They don't realize. And so industrials, technology, you know, it's one thing to talk about our official intelligence, but you have to poke all of those new data centres to a grand in our great need, substantial improvement our that improvement comes from industrial companies building new facilities. It comes from the medals there are needed for they electronic vehicles that there were also trying to green the grid. So there's a lot of reasons to be really positive about not just technology, but a broader swath of industries. And finally on on geography. I notice japan was on your a reminder to our audience that as much as talk about the tsx of the s&p the nikkei's had stronger performance than both this year. >> Warren buffett got a lot of people curious about japan because he made some that's not market. But what do you like japan right now? Think it's important there to remember too, that the strong performances years coming after decades of underperformance. So there's a piece to that. >> Eat the index itself. Important to remember that japan's index, unlike many of the other developed market indexes is more similar to the U.S. and that there's a component technology names. And that index. And so there's that piece, but there's fundamentally and structurally a lot going on in japan, in terms of government, in terms of trying to get the values, which ares trading substantially below one one times in that country out there's a lot of activity going on in structurally to so first time. Many of the younger workers and sighting ever seeing wage increases because and it's coming from decades of a negative rate environment to a new trailer increased rate environment might be one of the only countries in the glow that will look to be hiking rates actually and some amount of inflation embedded in their economy. So there's a lot of reasons to be positive on to >> Carol, it's great to get your perspective. Thanks as always for joining us. Nice to see a. Thank you. Have a good weekend to carol's life. Joining as chief investment officer at the bmo family office inc will talking with carol about tech. A reminder

that on market call yesterday kim bolton was our guest and kim's picks this time around include cisco systems, cisco's kind interesting with their latest quarterly results because they've had some challenges with getting additional business from existing customers with a lot of their switches, largely because a lot of their customers are sitting on too much inventory. But remember, they made a big acquisition of a software business splunk, which is already proving to be a beneficial one to them. And we can listen to our podcast from warren kim's thinking behind cisco pick western digital, which is well like stock on wall street was also on his list and digital realty, is a really more it's, it's a real estate play to really the focus on data centre properties that kind of stopped on today's edition of market call. Get into a new station 19 on ctv let's review some of the corporate stories we've been tracking here this morning. The story td bank getting lot of attention. Td saying a comprehensive overhaul of its U.S. anti money laundering program is well underway. The statement was part of the bank's quarterly earnings report. No new provisions for the scandal were announced today team will just a profit that beat analyst estimates driven by its capital markets business. They did set aside a more money for potentially bad loans. For credit losses were higher than expected, topping a billion dollars. Westjet also in the headlines this morning, the airline planning to launch new cheaper fare category. A new cheaper fare category for travellers who are willing to fly without a carry on bag. employees will be given opportunities. Some of their other look. Patients getting to the broader story of stocks this morning. The tsx at last glance was a trying to stay in the green, but it has quickly moved into the red here. Remember, we saw yesterday sell-off that was led by materials and energy. That was the first tsx dropping 5 sessions earlier this week. We did get to a record high, though. And looking at the sector break down this morning. Well, energy which struggled yesterday has been higher the price of oil that is and that's helping some of the energy stocks. We're continuing to see some weakness in the price of gold copper as well. So that's impacting some of the material stocks financials are basically flat on the day healthcare and utilities are under a little bit of pressure right now. Some individual stocks that we're watching today would include celestica. Now remember, there's always excitement around ai in the united states today with nvidia's better than expected results and celestica in many ways has been reshaping its business to lean into the ai craze. It's one of the reasons why the stocks had pretty unseen performance over the last year, that almost 40% higher last 12 months for celestica. So it's gaining ground today, along with technology stocks, ca is also gaining ground where this is one of the big losers yesterday after they assure preliminary quarterly results that fell short of street expectations. So but a bounce-back for ca and kind of reverse to the seeing story. Quick look at the bar there's some analysts commentary that. Really ratcheted up the stock yesterday had a big move higher. It's giving back some background right now. It's off close to 5%. As we talk about the ai we'll talk a little bit more about how it's playing into the etf market. Stay with us. We'll be right back.
