Blyth Spartans have appointed Michael Connor as the club's new manager, days after the club was taken over by businessman Martin Trinder.

Previous manager David Stockdale was sacked last week, just 48 days after replacing former Newcastle United and West Ham midfielder Nolberto Solano.

Trinder heads up a consortium that has taken ownership of the club from Irfan Liaquat.

Blyth lost 3-0 at Ilkeston Town in the Northern Premier League on Saturday, their first match for three weeks after an unsettled period for the club.

They are two points adrift at the bottom of the table.
