Blues Prospect Report: Fischer First Hat Trick Highlights Sarnia Victory Over Sudbury

The St. Louis Blues have had plenty of news on prospects playing for various squads in various leagues this season.

As noted earlier on Sunday, with Otto Stenberg (2023, first round, No. 25 overall) making the move from Sweden to Springfield and making an immediate impact with a goal and an assist; to Tomas Mrsic (2024, fourth round) sizzling all season at Prince Albert of the Western Hockey League and so forth.

But what about some of those that have been kept under wraps, like 2024 second-round pick Lukas Fischer?

Well, the defenseman (6-foot-3, 184 pounds) had himself a game for Sarnia of the Ontario Hockey League on Friday, scoring his first hat trick for the Sting in a 6-2 win over Sudbury, scoring their first three goals of the game:

The Sarnia captain is now up to 19 points (eight goals, 11 assists) in 26 games and is averaging a point per game (three goals, four assists) the past seven and is a plus-5.

* Jimmy Snuggerud -- 'Snuggy' keep sniping, and the 2022 first-round pick (No. 23 overall) now has a three-game goal streak (four goals) after scoring three times in two games this past weekend in Minnesota's split against Notre Dame.

He scored on a rebound in a 5-2 win on Friday to the the game 1-1:

And here's a high-slot snipe top shelf as part of a five-goal first period that made it 4-1:

This goal in a 4-3 loss against the Fighting Irish on Saturday was a thing of beauty, powering around the edge, taking the puck to the net and depositing it in to tie the game 1-1:

Snuggerud is now up to 15 goals and 33 points in 26 games and is tied with Wisconsin's Quinn Finley for second in the nation in points, trailing Michigan State's Isaac Howard, who has 36 points.

* Tomas Mrsic -- There's no stopping Mrsic these days.

The forward put up seven points (three goals, four assists) in three games this past week, including a goal and three assists Saturday in a 7-1 win against Swift Current, then scoring twice Sunday in a 3-1 win against Red Deer.

Mrsic now has 59 points (26 goals, 33 assists) in 38 games, and his 59 points is just three off his career-high set last season in 63 games; his 26 goals are a new career-high.

* Colten Ellis -- The 2019 third-round pick has taken over as the No. 1 goalie with the Thunderbirds and has won his past four starts.

Ellis, who is 12-5-2-1 with a 2.61 goals-against average and .921 save percentage in 20 games this season, has a 2.26 GAA and .932 save percentage with a shutout his past four starts with Springfield.

Ellis had a 31-save shutout on Wednesday at Bridgeport:

* Adam Jecho -- One of the unheralded Czechia Blues prospects at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship put up five points (three goals, two assists) in Friday-Saturday games for the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL, including two goals and two assists on Saturday in a 7-0 win against Moose Jaw.

The 2024 third-round pick is up to 30 points (12 goals, 18 assists) in 32 games.

* Quick hitters -- Juraj Pekarcik (2023, third round) now has six goals the past five games after scoring twice this past week and adding an assist in three games; Dalibor Dvorsky (2023, first round, No. 10 overall) had two assists on Saturday for Springfield in a 6-4 win at Bridgeport; Aleksanteri Kaskimaki (2022, third round) had a goal and an assist for Springfield on Saturday; Simon Robertsson (2021, third round) had a goal and an assist for Springfield in a 4-0 win at Bridgeport on Wednesday; Ondrej Kos (2024, third round) had himself a five-point game (three goals, two assists and played 24:45 for Ilves U20 on Saturday in an 8-6 loss against TPS U20.
