Blues Prospect Continues To Snipe
Despite a pair of losses by fourth-ranked University of Minnesota to second-ranked Michigan State this past weekend, St. Louis Blues prospect Jimmy Snuggerud continues to snipe away.
And judging by Blues fans' frustration with the consistent inconsistency by the parent team in the NHL, the 20-year-old can't get to St. Louis fast enough.
Snuggerud continued with his goal-scoring, point-producing ways with four more points against the Spartans, a goal and an assist in a 9-3 drubbing on Friday, then two more goals in a 3-3 tie on Saturday, ultimately won in a shootout by Michigan State.
On Friday, another one of those patented wristers of his from the edge of the left circle cut the deficit to 5-3:

Saturday, this beauty from the high slot, another quick release where you can hear ping and in tied the game 1-1 in the second period:

He tied the game 2-2 by picking up loose change and chipping a backhand in from the side of the net off bodies:
Not quite as pretty, but we'll absolutely take it.

Snuggerud, the No. 23 pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, now has seven goals in a five-game goal streak and nine points total in the point streak and has at least a point in 11 of the past 12 games (17 points; 11 goals, six assists).
Snuggerud is second in the nation with 37 points (18 goals, 19 assists) in 28 games and is neck-and-neck with Michigan State's Isaac Howard, who has 39 points but has played two fewer games.
It's been an impressive run.
* Mrsic keeps piling on the points -- If you haven't heard this before, wake up. If you have, it should come as no surprise, but forward Tomas Mrsic (2024, fourth round) is at it again.
Mrsic added to his point streak when he scored six points (two goals, four assists) in three games, including a goal and two assists on Friday for Prince Albert of the Western Hockey League in a 6-3 win against Saskatoon.
Mrsic added two assists in a 3-2 shootout loss against Regina on Saturday, including this pinpoint feed:

Mrsic is up to 65 points (28 goals, 37 assists) in 41 games and leads the team in goals and points and is third in assists; his 14 power-play goals are tied for first in the WHL.
Mrsic's point streak has now reached six games (13 points; five goals, eight assists) and is on pace for 103 points (44 goals, 59 assists).
* Dean is back -- Zach Dean, the 30th pick in the 2021 draft by the Vegas Golden Knights acquired in the trade that sent Ivan Barbashev to Vegas, is back playing after
Dean missed 36 games with a lower-body injury before suiting up for Springfield of the American Hockey League on Sunday:
The @ThunderbirdsAHL get Zach Dean back for the first time since Oct. 18 today! He missed the last 36 games with a lower-body injury he suffered in Hartford in the 3rd game of the season.
