While most folks stop at a call and maybe some flowers for Mother’s Day, Marcus Stroman went all out with his public displays of love for his mom on the weekend.

It started on Saturday when Stroman wore special cleats designed that were a tribute to his mother, Adlin Auffant.

“It was an honour to my mom who I love very, very deeply who always comes to see me when I pitch,” he said of the custom kicks. “It’s puts a smile on my face regardless of anything.”

Then on Sunday morning he continued the love-in with this Tweet:

The main event came prior to the game, when Adlin threw out the first pitch.

“She’ll be out there,” he said after Saturday’s start. “I’m going to teach her some things after the game and hopefully she delivers a strike.”

Stroman’s vision didn’t come to fruition as Adlin bounced her pitch just shy of the plate, but it probably didn’t detract from a perfect Mother’s Day weekend for the star.
