What a day for the Toronto Blue Jays.

The madness started with Eric Sogard being a last-minute scratch in advance of a proposed trade to the Tampa Bay Rays.

What followed was a wild 10-9 game that took four hours to complete, including a second-straight day with one team pulling off a seven-run comeback to win.

Immediately following the game, the rumours officially began to fly that the team had an agreement to deal Marcus Stroman to the New York Mets.

As the dust flew around the flurry of speculation around Stroman, the team also made a quiet move at the minor league level.

Bo Bichette, the team’s top prospect at Triple-A Buffalo, was pulled off the field in the third inning and greeted with handshakes and hugs from his teammates in the dugout.

That’s usually a sign that a youngster has received word that he’s been called up to the majors, the last step on a long journey to the highest level. Moving Sogard means there’s a spot open on the infield for him, and the promotion is certainly well earned.

Bichette came into Sunday with a .277/.336/.477 line in 55 games with the Bisons, while taking on the challenge of being the every day shortstop.

Pitcher Sean Reid-Foley was also removed from his start after one inning, as the most logical fill-in for Stroman’s spot in the rotation.

It was expected to be an action-packed trade deadline for the Blue Jays, and Sunday’s flurry of movement certainly lived up to the hype.
