Have you ever ordered something online, only to have it look a lot different when it arrived?

That happened to a Toronto Blue Jays fan in Saskatchewan this week, when she tweeted a photo of the jersey she said she ordered online from Sport Chek.

Needless to say, the product did not come exactly as advertised.

Sport Chek replied a few hours later to say it would look into the matter, so hopefully she’ll have it replaced with a correctly spelled Jays jersey soon enough. In the interim, fans are encouraging Becca Foord to hold onto her unique, quasi-Français version for the sake of collection (and a funny story).

While this jersey may be one-of-a-kind, there are plenty of cases of professional athletes’ names being spelled wrong even on their own game-worn jerseys.

One of the most famous instances involved Wayne Gretzky, who played a game with the New York Rangers on Oct. 30, 1997 against the Islanders with his name spelled “Gretkzy” on his jersey.

More recently, Tottenham Hotspur presented the Great One with a personalized “Gretsky” soccer jersey — apparently a common error, but no less painful.

Longtime Blue Jays fans may recall another classic: Joe Carter’s infamous “TOROTNO” jersey, which he wore during a game against the Texas Rangers on July 14, 1994.

Let’s just say this on behalf of jersey manufacturers: oops.
