It’s difficult to be polite at this juncture: the 2019 Toronto Blue Jays are playing some truly dreadful baseball and may have committed their most embarrassing mistake of the season on Saturday.

Trailing 3-0 against the Colorado Rockies in the bottom of the fifth inning, Marcus Stroman surrendered what appeared to be a routine base hit to leadoff hitter Raimel Tapia. Unfortunately, Stroman’s teammates had other ideas.

As Tapia approached second, Blue Jays center-fielder Jonathan Davis tried to make a nonchalant play on the ball, but ended up booting it. Davis briefly recovered but as Tapia slid headfirst into the third, cutoff man Cavan Biggio butchered the throw to Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Due to the error, Tapia was awarded home for the Little League home run, a fitting designation seeing that most Little League games have better defensive efforts. And orange slices, too.

It’s a truly miserable scene from the Blue Jays in a season full of unfathomable errors. Adding insult to injury, it’s the second time this week that the Blue Jays allowed what amounted to an inside-the-park home run, committing a litany of mistakes during an at-bat from Tampa Bay Rays infielder Ji-Man Choi.

At least there’s still *checks notes*.... 104 games to turn it all around.
