The deal carries an AAV of $775,000 and will run through the 2025-26 season.
Aston-Reese, 30, was originally signed by the Vegas Golden Knights. However, before playing a game with them, he was claimed off waivers by the Blue Jackets.
In 42 games with the Blue Jackets, he has four goals and seven assists for a total of 11 points.
GM Don Waddell had this to say about the Aston-Reese extension:
"Zach has been a great addition to the Blue Jackets on the ice and in the dressing room. He brings speed, grit, and versatility to our forward group, and we are excited that he will continue to be a part of our club."
Aston-Reese has played eight seasons in the NHL. He has suited up for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Anaheim Ducks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, and the aforementioned Blue Jackets.
He has scored 46 goals and 45 assists for 91 points in 352 NHL games. His career high came in 2018-19 when he scored 17 points with the Penguins.
