Blue Jackets' Luca Pinelli Representing Team Canada at 2024 World Juniors
Blue Jackets' Luca Pinelli has an amazing opportunity to represent Team Canada in Ottawa at the 2024 World Juniors.
Pinelli is a member of the Ottawa 67's in the OHL and will now have the chance to play for Team Canada in front of his local fans.
He won't be doing it alone; his 67's coach, Dave Cameron, is the head coach of the World Juniors. However, he made it clear to the media that Pinelli wasn't selected for that reason.
"He made the team because he's one hell of a hockey player"

It'll be a @Ottawa67sHockey party in Ottawa this Christmas as Head Coach Dave Cameron got to break the news to his captain Luca Pinelli (#CBJ) that he'll be representing Canada at the #WorldJuniors 🎥 pic.twitter.com/rCsUrGSceG— Ontario Hockey League (@OHLHockey) December 14, 2024
Pinelli is practicing as the extra forward for Team Canada. For those who don't, that doesn't mean he won't draw into the lineup. Typically, it is the extra forwards who get into a game and have huge moments for the team. Similar to Akil Thomas and his game-winning goal for Canada at the 2020 World Juniors.
Pinelli, a fourth-round draft pick of the Blue Jackets in the 2023 NHL draft, has the support of not just Canada but also the entire fan base of the Blue Jackets.
Good Luck, Luca!
