As an anthem singer, there aren’t many tools needed to do your job.

Aside from having some nice vocals and of course remembering the words to the songs, all you really need is a microphone. Unfortunately for Columbus Blue Jackets singer Leo Welsh, he forgot his on Sunday.

Luckily for him though, the Columbus crowd, also known as the ‘5th Line,’ was there to bail him out.

While this was a very touching moment inside Nationwide Arena, this mishap does beg the question:

How did he forget his microphone?

Aside from himself, there is only one thing he needed, a mic! And after 16 years of performing for the Jackets, Welsh completely forgot it. That would be like a painter coming to your house to paint your walls without a paintbrush.

But, mistakes happen, and it was great to see Welsh get some much-needed backup.
