Blow for Anderlecht as winger suffers another injury
Anderlecht received another injury blow this week. During the first half of their Europa League clash with Ferencvaros, winger Francis Amuzu had to be taken off. The young winger looked to have suffered a muscle injury, another blow for the exciting wide man who had only really just returned from time out. Amuzu’s injury adds to the growing list in Brussels and leaves the Mauves light on options out wide, especially those with the electric pace and dribbling ability of Amuzu.
Amuzu’s latest injury comes after eight appearances this season, with most of these off the bench. He has scored twice in that time. The winger remains eligible for both Ghana and Belgium, having capped the latter at youth level. the 25-year-old made his debut back int he 2017/2018 season and has gone on to make 231 appearances for the Mauves. In that time, Amuzu has scored 26 goals and grabbed 28 assists. Many predicted that by now he would have moved to one of Europe’s major leagues, however injuries have gotten in the way.
It has not yet been disclosed how long Amuzu is likely to be out for, but interim head coach David Hubert did not seem confident following the win in Europe.
