Blindkilde Brown: England debut a dream come true
Laura Blindkilde Brown says it was a dream come true to make her senior England debut in the Lionesses’ 1-0 win over Switzerland.
City’s midfielder was handed her maiden cap by Sarina Wiegman after being named in the starting lineup at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane.
She went on to play 84 minutes against Pia Sundhage’s side and helped her nation to a clean sheet and deserved victory as Grace Clinton’s early strike proved the difference on Tuesday evening.
For the 21-year-old, her England bow was an immense source of pride for her and her family.
“It was a really proud moment for me and my family,” she declared.
“It’s something I’ve dreamed about as a little girl, so for it to come true was really special."
Blindkilde Brown’s England debut is the latest highlight in what’s been a memorable year for the midfield ace so far.
After signing for City permanently on deadline day in January, she has continually progressed and impressed with Gareth Taylor’s side.
She helped us relentlessly battle for the Barclays Women’s Super League title last year with crucial goals and displays before featuring in the Champions League for the first time – scoring her first European goal in a 2-0 win over Hammarby in November.
And Blindkilde Brown is delighted with her calendar year but reaffirmed her desire to achieve new ambitions.
She added: “It’s been a great year with lots of new beginnings. New achievements, new goals so it’s been good.”
