Blake Griffin's ex-fiancee cites Kendall Jenner drama, Clippers 'tension' in lawsuit
Blake Griffin’s ex-fiancee, former USC women’s basketball player Brynn Cameron, filed a palimony lawsuit against the five-time NBA All-Star, reportedly comparing his recent trade to the Detroit Pistons to his decision to call off their wedding and begin “a high-profile love affair” with Kendall Jenner.
Cameron’s lawsuit said she was “homeless and cash-strapped” with their two children, Ford, 4, and Finley, 1, requiring financial assistance from her brother, former NFL tight end Jordan Cameron, after she gave up sports marketing and interior design careers at Griffin’s request, per multiple reports.
In addition to mothering their children, Cameron cited a number of professional roles she played in Griffin’s life in the lawsuit, from personal assistant to fitness consultant, including counseling the oft-injured star on his “mounting tension” with Chris Paul and a “toxic” relationship with the Los Angeles Clippers.
“[Cameron] strengthened Griffin’s bond with his teammates and allowed the organization to see a different side of his personality rather than the hard-partying man-child Griffin had been prior to their cohabitation,” the lawsuit said, according to TMZ Sports.
According to the lawsuit, Cameron refused to sign a prenuptial agreement a month before their wedding, and Griffin called it off a week before the scheduled date of July 28, 2017. The suit accused him of “cruelly embarrassing his family with his public fawning over Kendall Jenner” and “humiliating his family by spending a very public weekend with Jenner in the Hamptons” this past August.
Finally, the lawsuit twice cited Griffin’s recent trade from Los Angeles to Detroit. First, it compared his former team’s promise to make him a “Clipper for life” to the couple’s recent breakup. Via TMZ Sports:
“Griffin himself, however, knows very well what breaching promises is all about. After all, Griffin had no problem trading Brynn Cameron, his former fiancee, and the mother of his 2 children, for reality television star Kendall Jenner.”
And the lawsuit also had little compassion for Griffin learning of his trade on Twitter. Via Us Weekly:
“Some might say that Griffin received karmic justice by learning of his departure on social media, the same way he ungraciously allowed Cameron to discover her ‘trade.’”
The lawsuit was filed on Valentine’s Day. Cameron, who also went through a public child support battle with former NFL quarterback Matt Leinart over their son in 2007, is seeking an indeterminate amount of money from Griffin. The Pistons star signed a five-year, $171 million contract in July.
