Blades' Hayden Harsanyi Impresses In Debut, Drops Decision To Edmonton

With deadline day upon the WHL on Thursday, and many players shuffling around, forward Hayden Harsanyi made himself at home immediately with the Saskatoon Blades.

A product of Calgary, Alta. Harsanyi skated in his first game since Oct. 11- as a member of the Medicine Hat Tigers. Along with defender Jack Kachkowski, he was acquired by Saskatoon on Monday as part of a deal for Tanner Molendyk.

"It was a crazy day," Harsanyi said, on the trade. "He got the call first, and said it was with another forward, then I got a call to come into the office. I had a pretty good idea I was going to be a Blade." The two have some history, teaming up for Team Alberta at the 2023 Under-16 Canada Winter Games.

The young forward went on to comment on the return itself, saying "the pace was a bit high ... felt like it took a period to get used to the speed, it was a great first start for me personally but it sucks we didn't get the win."

A close game throughout, but Saskatoon was bested by a score of 4-2 in Edmonton against the Oil Kings. Harsanyi did record a point on both Blades goals, including scoring one himself (above) and adding a late assist to make it a 3-2 game but Edmonton would add an empty netter to seal it.

Ahead of Friday's road matchup against the Calgary Hitmen, Harsanyi noted that the team "needs to be better on the walls, stick to the structure and be a little more disciplined."
