Black Market Bakers Opens In Edgewater's South River Colony

EDGEWATER, MD — Black Market Bakers opened last Friday in Edgewater. The bakery will now serve breakfast and dessert from its shop on Main Street at South River Colony.

The O'Leary family started their business during the thick of the coronavirus pandemic. With indoor dining limited, the bakers opened a food truck outside their Chevys Fresh Mex in Annapolis.

The pop-up bakery eventually caught the attention of NBC producers. The channel invited Tom O'Leary and his son, Steve O'Leary, to compete in its new show called "Baking It." The bakers did not take home the top prize, but their TV appearance grew anticipation for their grand opening.

"We’re so excited to show you what we’ve been working on for the last year," Black Market Bakers said on Facebook. "We’re grateful for every single one of you that has been with us on this journey. We wouldn’t be here without you."

Black Market Bakers will satisfy cravings at 155 Mitchells Chance Road. The eatery is open from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day except Tuesdays.

More information is available at blackmarketbakers.com. Residents can follow the business on Facebook and Instagram.
