Bills rookie Dawson Knox scored his first TD since high school
Buffalo Bills rookie tight end Dawson Knox found the end zone early in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
It turns out it was pretty notable. Not only was it his first NFL touchdown ... it was his first since high school.
The Bills used a third-round pick on Knox, who flashed some tremendous athletic traits at Ole Miss in college and averaged 15.5 yards per catch there. But the oddity is that he never managed to get in the end zone.
Yes, the Rebels had a talented group of pass catchers there — DK Metcalf, A.J. Brown, DaMarkus Lodge and others. But it’s still pretty wild that Knox never was able to find the end zone.
Knox spent a few years when he arrived in college as a quarterback before shifting to tight end. Injuries also limited him to 17 college games in two seasons at his new position.
A hamstring injury also kept him on the shelf for most of the preseason with the Bills. He played in the Bills’ first two regular-season games this season but was unable to find the end zone.
We believe this was his first scoring play since his junior year at Brentwood Academy in Tennessee. That was in 2014! In the first game of his senior season, Knox threw for a TD pass but was knocked out after only a half and missed the remainder of the year.
So yes, Mr. Knox should cherish his first pro TD. Hope he kept the ball.
