Bill Belichick shreds Bears for lack of attention to offensive line
Many people have had their fair share of criticism for the Chicago Bears, and one legendary coach has joined in on the swarm of negativity surrounding this team.
On Monday, former Patriots head coach and six-time Super Bowl Champion Bill Belichick was asked about the failure of the Bears as a team and while he acknowledged the moves they made to upgrade their playmaking unit, he pointed at the failure to upgrade the offensive line.
Appearing on the "Pat McAfee Show," Belichick noted that when their NFC North rival Detroit Lions began rebuilding their team, they focused on the offensive line first.
"We talked about this at the beginning of the year, there's issues on the offensive line, now they got a couple guys hurt, now they score three points," Belichick said. "There's issues on the offensive line, that's the way the team is built. They weren't built like the Chargers were built, they have a different model, a different format. Same thing with Detroit, Detroit went out and did what? Got two good tackles and a center, it's not a bad place to start. Then you start filling in around it with quarterback, running back, and the receivers. It's just a different model."

It's a brutal, yet fair, assessment of how the Bears have continued to build around young quarterbacks since 2017. With three quarterbacks taken in the first round since that draft, Mitch Trubisky, Justin Fields, and now Caleb Williams there has been a repetitive failure by the organization to keep them upright and protected with a quality offensive line.
A history that has continuously repeated itself is being noticed by others around the NFL in how the Bears operate as they search for a long-term answer at franchise quarterback.
