Biggest Winners From Each Division At The 2025 WHL Trade Deadline

The 2024-25 WHL trade deadline has officially passed. This year's deadline saw many big moves, including numerous NHL-drafted prospects switching teams ahead of the 2025 postseason. With this in mind, here is a look at which team from each division did the best prior to the 2025 trade deadline.

B.C. Division- Kelowna Rockets

The rebuilding Kelowna Rockets were massive winners this trade deadline. They were able to move some of their top players in Andrew Cristall and Caden Price, while loading up on draft picks. With multiple first-round picks in each of the next three drafts, Kelowna should be able to build a contender as they get set to host the 2026 Memorial Cup.

U.S. Division- Spokane Cheifs

While the Spokane Chiefs were not busy at the trade deadline, they did make a substantial move, bringing in Cristall from the Rockets. While the trade did cost them six assets, including two first-round picks, it shot the Cheifs into contender status this season. Fans in Spokane should be excited, as Berkly Catton playing beside Cristall will be a nightmare for any opposition to shut down.

East Division- Red Deer Rebels

The Red Deer Rebels had an underrated trade deadline. They were able to move some assets, including Hunter Mayo, Trae Wilke, Carson Birnie, and Cole Peardon, in exchange for a healthy number of picks and young players. While the season has not gone the way the Rebels hoped for, they have a good mix of youth and experience, which should translate into a strong 2025-26 campaign.

Central Division- Lethbridge Hurricanes

The Lethbridge Hurricanes had a trade deadline to remember. They acquired Price from the Rockets as well as Anthony Wilson from the Regina Pats. Peter Anholt also got some of his shopping down early, bringing in Vegas Golden Knights prospect Jordan Gustafsson, Winnipeg Jets prospect Brayden Yager and goaltender  Jackson Unger over the past 40 days. With six NHL-drafted prospects, as well as talented players like Brayden Edwards, Leo Braillard, and Logan McCutcheon, the Hurricanes look set for a long playoff run in 2025.
