‘A big moment for him’ – Man Utd defensive duo closing in on return
Man Utd defensive duo Tyrell Malacia and Leny Yoro are back in training following their injury problems.
Summer signing Yoro is yet to play this season following his move from Lille after sustaining a metatarsal injury in pre-season, while Malacia has not played in over a year because of a serious knee injury.
But Malacia could soon be set for his long awaited return.
“Tyrell is the furthest [along], he’s part of team training for a couple of weeks now, in team training, no restrictions,” said interim manager Ruud Van Nistelrooy.
“It’s good for him to plan game minutes, maybe in the Under-21s, we have to see.”
Van Nistelrooy also says Yoro will be phased back into training after his injury in the summer and is excited to see him in action.
He said: “He’s been managed very well after his injury in pre-season. It was going to be a long one. It’s a big moment for him, the first time he’s back in team training.
“We’ll get him back partially over the coming weeks and look to get him on board as quick as possible.”
Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw are also continuing their recovery from injuries but are yet to return to team training.
“Harry (Maguire) is still inside working on his rehab and Luke (Shaw) does work like he did today and he’s progressing there to do partial team training soon.”
