Big 12 releases TCU men’s basketball upcoming conference slate

The Big 12 has released the conference schedule for the upcoming basketball season and TCU will face most of the juggernauts from around the league.

The Horned Frogs’ schedule includes hosting Kansas and hitting the road to take on Iowa State and new league member Arizona. The dates of the games will be released at a later date.

Here’s TCU men’s basketball upcoming Big 12 schedule:

Home and Away

Opponents: Baylor, Texas Tech, West Virginia, Central Florida, Colorado

Breakdown: As expected, the Horned Frogs will face in-state rivals Baylor and Texas Tech twice next season. Both teams are projected to be ranked at the start of the season with the Bears being No. 6 in ESPN’s Way-too-early Top 25 released last month. The Horned Frogs will also face newcomer Colorado twice. The Buffaloes are coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance, but lost two first round picks and former TCU center Eddie Lampkin to the transfer portal.

Home games

Opponents: BYU, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Utah

Breakdown: A matchup with Kansas is easily the standout game with the Jayhawks being in the mix as the No. 1 team entering the season with Hunter Dickinson returning and the addition of another strong transfer class. Kansas State spent millions to upgrade their roster via the portal while BYU is coached by former Phoenix Suns assistant Kevin Young after Mark Pope left for Kentucky.

Away

Opponents: Arizona, Arizona State, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Houston

Breakdown: The Horned Frogs have a brutal slate of away-only opponents with Arizona, Iowa State and Houston both being projected as top-10 teams. Even Cincinnati is expected to have a strong year with six of its top eight scorers returning plus the addition of former Texas forward Dillon Mitchell. New TCU point guard Frankie Collins will also have an opportunity to play at his former school when TCU takes on Arizona State.
