An estimated 80% of consumers are expecting to see higher prices this year, according to a 2023 survey conducted by the National Retail Federation (NRF). In this same survey, 45% of consumers are planning to do more comparative shopping online and shop sales more often to save. Judging by this, it's possible that this year's back-to-school sales might look a lot more like Black Friday.
Even if the start of the new school year seems far away now, planning to get your kids' back-to-school shopping out of the way in the early days of summer is a smart strategy for saving big.

Back-to-school shopping typically starts in early-to-mid July, right after the July 4 holiday. Shopping holidays like July 4 and Prime Day are some of the best times to stock up on school supplies and dorm room decor that you know your children will need for the year ahead.
