Best performing Italy players in Serie A Week 19: Slim pickings with Supercoppa
Only five Italy players earned average scores of 7/10 or higher during the most recent round of Serie A fixtures due to disruption from the Supercoppa Italiana in Saudi Arabia, which meant that three league fixtures were postponed over the weekend.
Verona goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipo earned the highest average rating from the press of all the Italy players involved in Serie A action over the weekend. He kept his third clean sheet of the season as Verona held on for a 0-0 draw against Udinese after being reduced to 10 men in the 71st minute.
Another goalkeeper in Simone Scuffet made the cut this weekend, as Cagliari defeated 10-man Monza by two goals to one. His teammate and goalscorer Roberto Piccoli also earned an average rating of 7/10 from the press in Italy.
Sebastiano Esposito, who provided Empoli’s equaliser in their 1-1 draw away against Venezia on Saturday, also earned an average rating of 7/10.
Gianluca Mancini, meanwhile, was the only Italy player involved in Roma’s 2-0 win over rivals Lazio to earn a rating of 7/10 or higher.
