‘All the best’: Midfielder says goodbye to Liverpool after 4 years on Merseyside

Liverpool parted with another player this summer after four years on Merseyside. He’s now said his goodbyes on Instagram.

Melkamu Frauendorf is leaving Liverpool this summer. He joined as a youth player in 2020 and struggled to progress beyond that - just two senior appearances to his name.

His contract has now expired and the German midfielder will join Hannover 96 on a free transfer. Frauendorf leaves on good terms with Liverpool, though, as shown in his goodbye message to the club.

The 20-year-old posted it on Instagram, thanking pretty much everyone involved with the Reds.

"As I am entering a new chapter in my career at Hannover 96 Football Club, today is the day to say goodbye and THANK YOU for the four wonderful years I spent at the Liverpool Academy,” he wrote.

"I could not have wished for better training conditions, and my special thank you goes out to my coaches, and to all my teammates.

"Thank you to all the staff, especially the kitchen staff, for absolutely delicious food, and thank you to my teachers who helped me succeed in the language classes.

"To all the fans who made it special to represent the Club at the matches: Thank you!

"The hardest part of leaving Liverpool was having to say goodbye to my host family, you certainly are more family than host parents to me, and I will miss the life with you and all the kids in the house. There is no way to thank you enough for everything you did for me.

"All the best to everyone."

Frauendorf leaves Liverpool

Everyone expected Frauendorf to leave this summer, of course, as he failed to make the grade at Liverpool. In many ways, he was a casualty of the Reds being so good throughout his time at the club.

If Frauendorf had been around during one of the more inconsistent times, perhaps he’d have had more opportunities. He certainly looked good enough to get those chances during his two cameos in the first team.

But it wasn’t to be and hopefully Frauendorf can go on to make it at Hannover - he deserves to finally get his big break.
