BEST BET: Putting An 8-0 Win Streak On The Line With A Division Showdown In St. Paul
LAS VEGAS -- We made it eight straight victories with last night's winner on the Ottawa Senators, as they went into Calgary and doused the Flames.
Let's head to the Central Division for tonight's BEST BET, as I make it nine in a row with the battle between the Utah Hockey Club and Minnesota Wild.
Let's do a deep dive into this one:
WHY UTAH: Utah arrives in the Twin Cities riding a three-game win streak, and winners in five of its last six games. In addition to an overall 5-1 run, confidence should be brewing with a six-game road winning streak, too. Utah is 10-6-2 away from Salt Lake City this season, with its 22 road points tied for sixth in the league.
WHY MINNESOTA: The Wild have lost two in a row - both at home - and are now 1-3 during their five-game homestand. They'll play in Winnipeg tomorrow and certainly don't want to leave town sulking after a loss. They should feel confident they can get back on track knowing they served Utah one of its few losses of late, a 5-4 shootout win in Salt Lake City on Dec. 10.
All betting lines are from Bet365 and are subject to change. Hockey is a difficult sport to predict so please gamble responsibly.
THE PICK: Wild -130 -- It wasn't too long ago that Minnesota was sitting on top of the NHL, all alone with 38 points. Now, the Wild have slipped into a fourth-place tie with Washington, both with 44 points, and more importantly into second place in the Central, three points behind league-leading Winnipeg. If Utah wasn't playing as well as it's been, this number would be much bigger, considering how much better the Wild have been. So while I like Minnesota based on a bit of the due theory, I also think it's based on a discounted price that should be closer to -170. Lay the cheap price at home.
