BEST BET: Looking For Eighth Straight Winner As Senators Head Into Calgary Looking To Douse Flames
LAS VEGAS -- We made it seven straight victories with Saturday's winner on the Lightning-Kraken going over in the first period. After taking four nights off, I'm jumping back on the ice with tonight's non-conference showdown in Calgary, as the Ottawa Senators look to douse the Flames.
While I am intrigued with the Bruins-Oilers game, not to mention the game I'll be at - the Canucks are in town to face the Golden Knights, I'm reading the signs in this number with the Senators.
Let's do a deep dive into this one:
WHY OTTAWA: They have won their four straight games, and scored three or more goals in each game. And while it's been an impressive showing since Dec. 11, I have to credit their defense, as they've allowed two or fewer goals during the four-game win streak, including a pair of shutouts.
WHY CALGARY: The Flames are 15-11-6 this season, and at times have shown their prowess. They opened this homestand 1-2 after a loss to Tampa Bay, a win over defending champion Florida, and a tight loss to Boston, and now have two games to close the five-game homestand against lesser teams.

THE PICK: Senators -130 -- While the Senators have been stifling on defense, the Flames have struggled since late November. They do have two shutouts to brag about, but they've also allowed four or more goals in six of nine games since Nov. 29. During that span, they're one of only two teams allowing four or more goals per game - second-highest to Buffalo (4.30) at 4.00. I'd rather back Ottawa, which has six of seven since Dec. 5, during which the Sens are allowing a league-low 1.29 goals per game.
