Former Italian defender Beppe Bergomi believes Alessandro Del Piero would be an ‘ideal’ FIGC President.

Juventus and Italy legend Del Piero has emerged as a potential candidate for the FIGC Presidency in 2025, but the ex-striker hasn’t yet confirmed whether he’d run.

Bergomi has been working with Del Piero as part of Sky Sport Italia’s pundit team, and the Nerazzurri legend believes ADP would be the ideal replacement for Gabriele Gravina.

“I know Alex well because we work together at Sky. I know his view and how he sees football. He is a prepared lad who wants to do well,” Bergomi said during the Premio Beppe Viola on Tuesday, as quoted by ANSA and TMW.

“If this is the case, it would be ideal because he is cultured and relevant. He would be perfect, and I’d welcome it well because, at 50, he’s ready.”

Both Del Piero and Bergomi won the World Cup. The Inter legend was part of the Azzurri squad that lifted the trophy at the Bernabeu in 1982 after a legendary Final against Germany.

Del Piero won Italy’s latest World Cup in 2006, scoring a memorable goal in the semi-finals against Germany.

A former Juventus striker, Del Piero has recently completed his coaching badges. He is the best scorer in the history of the club, as well as the player with the most appearances.
