Ben Johnson promises Bears will make QB history during his tenure

Ben Johnson's arrival as the new head coach of the Chicago Bears comes with plenty of high praise for the organization, as well as expectations in both the short and long term future.

During his introductory press conference, Johnson vowed to get the Bears to the playoffs next season, and in a recent interview, he proclaimed that Bears franchise history would be made under his watch.

In his rookie season, quarterback Caleb Williams threw for 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns, and just six interceptions, setting both franchise and NFL records despite the team's awful 5-12 record and amid a 10-game losing streak.

Even with making history, the Bears have yet to have a quarterback in their historic franchise throw for 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns. In an interview with "Breakfast Ball" on Fox Sports 1, Johnson vowed that mark would be hit while he is the head coach in Chicago.

"We're getting it done, we're getting it done. No question," Johnson said, when asked if he can help the Bears end their long history of being the only team in the NFL to not have a quarterback surpass 4,000 passing yards and 30 touchdowns in a single season.

Johnson has continuously stated that a big reason for him agreeing to come to Chicago is to work with Williams, who will be entering his second year after being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. With a better offensive line, better play calling, and Johnson at head coach, Williams should have the tools and resources necessary to continue see their young quarterback make history.
