Ben Johnson made it clear he wanted the Bears' head coach job

Chicago Bears chairman George McCaskey, president/CEO Kevin Warren, and general manager Ryan Poles were all on hand at head coach Ben Johnson's introductory press conference on Wednesday, ending a search that carries significant weight for the future.

Now that all four men will be tied together, as they look to lead young franchise quarterback Caleb Williams, it is imperative that they all have a system in place for success, and Johnson was not shy when interviewing with the team for the job.

Following Johnson's press conference, McCaskey also spoke to the media and revealed a conversation he had with the team's new coach. Upon their first meeting over Zoom, as they started the interview process, McCaskey said that Johnson started by proclaiming his desire to be the next head coach of the Bears.

"The first words out of his mouth were 'I want this job,'" McCaskey said. "The last thing he said before we turned off the camera was 'Did I tell you I want this job?' I was especially struck and he referenced it in his comments that this is the toughest division in football. He wants to be here and he wants to go up against Campbell, LaFleur, and O'Connell, and wants to succeed in the toughest environment possible. I was very impressed by that."

Memories of Poles' introductory press conference, nearly three years ago to the day, where he vowed the Bears would take back the NFC North were prevalent. Johnson had a similar tone. He was swift, firm, and aggressive in letting it be known that he wanted to be the next coach of the Bears. And while you don't get wins or losses for January press conferences, there seemed to be a much different tone and vibe to Halas Hall with Johnson leading the charge.
